Pomp & Pageantry

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Today I am hoping to get all day to be creative which is a great prospect as I've a lot I want to get achieved.  However, when DH left for work he announced he may be back mid-afternoon to work from home (oh dear!) so that will put an end to my plans as we share a workspace currently ... say no more!! 

Anyway, I decided to get started and have a play with my alcohol inks  - I always love the vibrancy of their colours but I'm not always sure what to do with what I create on 12 x 12 scrap pages.  I do use them on metal which is great but I want to expand their uses on cardstock.  So, I hatched a new plan (in the middle of the night!) and had a play using my inks and clingfilm with some heat and Voila! 

I decided to couple my inking with my Indigoblu stamps so I can enter both the Alcohol ink challenge at Artful Times and also the Words and Phrases challenge over at Indigoblu.  

Well, got to dash and make a start on my next project whilst I have the house to myself!  Hope you are all having a good Monday too!

Poppy Card

It was my good friend Sue's birthday this weekend and so I made her this card.  I had hoped to get time last week to make it so it would arrive in time for her birthday but that plan went a little pear-shaped so it's going to make a late entry!! 

I used Poppy Meadow stamp set by IndigoBlu to create my meadow border and lovely poppies.   I stamped everything in Ranger Archival ink and them painted my flowers with watercolours.  I used Caran D'Ache Neocolor III wax pastels which give a fantastically vibrant colour, particularly if you dip them into water and colour directly onto your design.

The butterfly is from a stamp set by Lost Coast Designs.  I coloured it with pencils and used a red stickle on the wingtips before 3D mounting it using silicone glue.

The sentiment is by Tim Holtz.

I like the simplicity of this card - and I adore IndigoBlu's stamps, particularly the silhouette borders.

Halloween Postcard

I am currently doing a postcard exchange with a lovely group of ladies  which is running for 14 months.  We started in June and it's proving to be a lot of fun.  Some months we get to choose what we do and some months the recipient has expressed a preference.  Either way, it keeps you on your toes and it's lovely to see everyone's ideas and work.

For October the preference was bats so a Halloween theme was the obvious choice.  I used distress inks for the background and stamped some patterns into it with water to give a faux bleach effect.  I stamped a crackly pattern over this before adding my main images.

The monastery, bats and spider are by IndigoBlu and the foliage is a stampotique stamp.  The sentiment is heat embossed in vanilla white and then mounted onto purple card which I had embossed.  I outlined the edge in gold and fixed it with 3D silicone glue.

I used glossy accents on my spider to make him stand out.

I am really pleased with the way this card came together ... hope you like it too!
